2017 A Grade Coaches announced!
The CYFC General Committee is happy to announce that Carey Payne has been selected as our A Grade Coach for 2017.
We can also announce that Tom Van Schaik will be his assistant.

Here is a brief note form Payney.

"To our members, players and supporters I would firstly like to say to the boys for electing me as your Coach for the 2017 and beyond, thank you so much. I cant tell you all how excited I am by this role and can't wait for 2017 to get here. We are currently doing interviews with our current playing list and also looking at adding some more depth to our playing list as well so hopefully within the next few weeks we will have our entire squad signed and ready to go. I think it's important for the current playing group and our supporters that you know we will be only targeting who we think will be a good fit for our club not only on the field but off as well. Stay tuned for pre season times as we will work through this ASAP. Again thank you. I look forward to meeting you all soon and having a chat. Go the Cougars!

Centre State Exports in conjunction with the Adelaide Football Club are proud to have given 5 of Yorke Peninsula’s most talented young footballers the opportunity to spend a ‘training day’ with the Adelaide Crows.
The clinic was run at the Adelaide Football Club headquarters at West Lakes on Friday 17th July. Centre State Exports invited 20 clubs from right across the state to nominate their best 13 or 14 year old player to come to Adelaide for an experience of a life time by having a chance to spend time in the Adelaide Crows ‘inner Sanctum’.
‘We invited 5 clubs from the Yorke Peninsula, Southern Eagles, CYP Cougars, Ardrossan, the joint Bute/Paskeville Juniors club and Broughton Mundoora,’ said Paul Lange Grower Services Manager for Centre State Exports. ‘The idea was to invite the true farmer clubs which are quite often smaller communities that would rarely have the opportunity to be included in something like this.’
The talented young players that represented their clubs included Chance Parsons (Ardrossan), Lachlan Jones (Bute/Paskeville), Tyson Reid (CYP), Jacob Gutsche (Southern Eagles) and Blake Burt (Broughton Mundoora).
The senior coaching staff of the Adelaide Crows put together a program for the boys that gave them an understanding as to what is required to make it to the AFL.
‘What we wanted to achieve with these boys was to get them to understand what they can be doing to improve their chances of making a career out of AFL footy,’ said head of football for the Adelaide Crows David Noble.
‘This program is unique as the boys we are working with are under 14 years which means we are working with them before they are exposed to the SANFL development programs,’ David Noble continued.
The day was spent working with the Adelaide Crows development coaches, nutrition experts, weights and fitness coaches. There were also several sessions concentrating on the transition from country to city with star player Matt Jaensch spending time with the boys giving them an example of his ‘firsthand experience’ of moving to the city.
‘The day was a great success and we thank the guys at Centre State for making it possible for something like this to happen,’ said Graeme Dunstan Crows State League football manager and clinic director. ‘Without the support of companies like Centre State programs like this for rural communities simply don’t happen.’
